Prediction game seasons

Seasons split the prediction game into time-bound editions. Instead of one endless ranking, players compete within a defined period — weekly, monthly or yearly. At the end of each period the winner earns a 🏆 trophy, the runner-up a 🥈 silver medal, and third place a 🥉 bronze medal. Trophies accumulate across all editions, building a prize cabinet over time.

Season types

When you enable seasons on your prediction league you pick one of four types:

Manual — You decide when each edition starts and ends. Useful if you want to run a season that follows a real football calendar (e.g. the Premier League season from August to May).
Weekly — A new edition opens automatically every Monday at 00:00 (server timezone) and closes the following Sunday at midnight.
Monthly — A new edition opens on the 1st of each month and closes at the end of that month.
Yearly — A new edition covers a full calendar year, from 1 January to 31 December.

How automatic rollover works

For weekly, monthly and yearly seasons the bot handles everything automatically:

When the current edition's end date passes, it is closed. The final standings are frozen and trophies are awarded to the top three players.
A new edition is immediately opened for the next period. Its name is generated automatically (e.g. "Week 18 — 2026" or "May 2026").
Any predictions that were entered for fixtures whose date falls in the new period are automatically linked to the new edition, so players never lose their predictions during a rollover.

You do not need to do anything when a period ends — the bot takes care of the rollover.

How to enable seasons

Open the Football Nation premium dashboard for your server.
Go to Prediction game and open the settings for your prediction league.
Find the Seasons section and select a season type (Weekly, Monthly, Yearly or Manual).
Save. The bot creates the first edition immediately, covering the current period.

Editions and rankings

Each period of a season is called an edition. The ranking page on the Football Nation website shows the ranking for the current (active) edition by default. Use the edition selector at the top of the page to browse older editions and see their final standings.

When you click a player's name on the ranking page you see all their predictions for the edition you are currently viewing. If the league has no seasons enabled, all predictions across all time are shown instead.

Trophies and medals

When an edition closes, the top three players receive a medal:

🏆 1st place — Champion trophy
🥈 2nd place — Silver medal
🥉 3rd place — Bronze medal

Medals are shown next to a player's name on the ranking page, on their personal predictions page, and on the per-match predictions page. Counts accumulate across every edition, so a player who wins three weekly editions in a row will show 🏆×3.

Manual seasons

If you selected Manual as the season type you are in full control of when editions start and end. To open a new edition go to the Seasons section of your prediction league settings in the premium dashboard and click Start new edition. The previous edition is closed at that moment and trophies are awarded.

You can also close the current edition without opening a new one — useful at the end of a football season when there are no fixtures for a while.

Disabling seasons

You can switch back to no seasons at any time. The existing editions and their trophies are kept for historical reference, but new predictions will no longer be tied to an edition. The ranking will show the all-time totals again.
